Three Stories, One Powerful Message

Posted on Sep 18, 2026

“Just get on the bus.”
“Childcare is infrastructure.”
“Someone invested in me.”

These are just some of the messages the nearly 1,000 community members who gathered for this year’s Women’s Fund Luncheon took away with them.

The most powerful voices in the room belonged to three local women whose stories brought the mission of the Women’s Fund for the Fox Valley Region to life.

Those stories revealed a common truth: when women are supported, encouraged, and given opportunities to succeed, the impact reaches far beyond one individual. It strengthens families, workplaces, and entire communities.

Although each speaker’s journey was unique, their stories intersected around several themes that define the work of the Women’s Fund: belonging, opportunity, advocacy, and the transformational power of investing in women.

As one attendee observed,

For a local event with a local mission, it’s more powerful if the person holding the mic is tied to the mission. Nobody flew in today…the stories were already here

The impact of the speakers was evident long after the luncheon ended.

Many attendees shared that the stories sparked meaningful conversations and continued reflection throughout the day. One participant noted that the speakers were so compelling that they found themselves retelling parts of the stories afterward. Another said the stories had them “thinking and digesting much” long after leaving the room.

The luncheon served as a powerful reminder that meaningful change happens when we listen to one another, challenge barriers, create pathways, and invest in women’s potential.

Because when women are seen, supported, and believed in, there’s no limit to what they can achieve.
