Lack of access to menstrual health products can cause students with periods to miss or be late to class, or feel anxious about period care. Inspired to take action, a group of women in the Fox Cities started The Monthlies Project, a volunteer-run community initiative to address the need and ensure period products get into the hands of young people who need it.
The Monthlies Project is a community initiative to end period poverty. Not only does period poverty negatively impact physical, mental, and emotional health, it can create a barrier to equal opportunity in education.
They provide menstrual health products to school-aged students and bring awareness to the issue of period poverty and the educational inequity it creates.
The Women’s Fund proudly partners with The Monthlies Project, holding and stewarding the funding that fuels this critical work.
Annually, An Event, Period raises funds and awareness about period poverty in Northeastern Wisconsin.
Go with the flow and attend An Event, Period. which will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center.
