In 2011 Women's Fund grants will touch the lives of nearly 1,325 women and girls, and their families. We are proud to have supported the following programs in 2011. PROJECT GRANT CYCLE
The Women's Fund awarded $40,500 in grants for 2011. Thank you to Great Northern Corporation for providing grant collaboration funding.
The following funds within the Women's Fund also contributed to the granting pool: Haley Fuhrmann Little Women's Fund, Maria and Jill Georgen Little Women's Fund, Mary Harp-Jirschele Fund for Women, Ethel Keller Fund for Women, Brigid Guy Prosser Little Women's Fund, Cara Guy Prosser Little Women's Fund, Margaret Guy Prosser Little Women's Fund, Lynn Salmon-Easter Little Women's Fund, Maja Salmon Little Women's Fund, Wisnoski/Danner Little Women's Fund.
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley, SMART Girls - $3,500: Offers girls age 7-15 opportunities to develop positive choices and healthy life skills in an interactive, small group setting.
Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services, Inc., Fox Cities Client Advocacy Program - $5,000: Provides domestic violence victims who live primarily in Neenah/Menasha access to Christine Ann services.
Financial Information Service Center, Inc., Her Money - $5,000: Offers an incentive-based savings program along with a financial education component for low to moderate income women and their daughters.
Fox Valley Sibling Support Network, Summer Sibling Camps - $1,500: Offers respite and leadership opportunities to girls who have siblings with special needs and renews healthy family relationships.
Fox Valley Technical College Foundation, Project TechSpace 2011- $4,000: Provides disadvantaged middle-school age girls with a hands-on technologies immersion experience.
Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes, Inc., Reaching Out -$5,000: Offers quality programs to girls who are unable to participate in traditional Girl Scouting due to financial need, special needs, or lack of transportation.
Greater Fox Cities Habitat for Humanity, Financial Literacy Homeowner Education - $2,000: Provides financial education and financial literacy mentoring that is also offered in Spanish.
Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs, Women of Wisdom Support Group - $3,500: Provides support, advocacy and outreach to older battered women with the goal of helping them maintain personal safety, restore their sense of security and/or enhance their sense of well-being.
LEAVEN, Inc., Emergency Housing Assistance - Female Head of Household - $3,500: Supports hard-working women who are experiencing an unexpected financial crisis so that they can remain in their homes.
NAMI Fox Valley, Wings of Change Support Group - $2,500: Provides support, information, education, fellowship and emotional healing to women with mental illness who have experienced violence in their lives.
Rebuilding Together Fox Valley, Quick Fix Program - $3,000: Provides assistance to female homeowners with repairs and minor modifications to allow them to stay independent and safe in their homes.
YouthGo, G.E.M.S. (Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully) - $2,000: Provides direct, therapeutic services to young women who are survivors of sexual abuse and struggling with the debilitating effects of anorexia and/or bulimia.
STRATEGIC GRANTS
The Women's Fund distributed $20,000 in Strategic Grants in 2011 to the following organizations:
American Red Cross of East Central WI, in collaboration with the Girls Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes, Babysitter Training Program for At-Risk Girls - $10,000: Provides babysitter training to girls from low-income families so that they can learn how to be better caregivers to younger children in their home, and will also learn a marketable skill they can use to earn income after school or during the summer.
Fox Valley Technical College Wo/Men's Bureau, in collaboration with ADVOCAP, Young Women's Grant Program - $10,000: Provides participants with an individual training plan where they will receive tuition and transportation assistance as they achieve the goals in their plan.
