The Wisconsin Paper Council (WPC) is the premier trade association that advocates for Wisconsin’s paper, pulp, and forestry industries before state and federal elected officials and regulators. The WPC also works to educate the public and the media about the importance of paper, pulp, and forestry production in Wisconsin and throughout the Midwest. Wisconsin is the number one papermaking state in the United States, and the industry is a key economic driver for the state – employing over 30,000 highly skilled workers.
The Women in Forest Products Scholarship has been established with an initial gift from Ahlstrom. Ahlstrom recognizes the need to have more women in the paper industry and this scholarship is to encourage high school young women
to enter the field and grow their leadership skills through education.
The goal of this scholarship is to provide financial support to a female graduating senior who is pursuing a career in forestry products or related fields.

A special thank you to Ashley’s family, who for 20 years has made a lasting impact in Ashley’s memory after her courageous battle with cancer in 2003, have awarded three scholarships to close out their fund.
Ashley was someone who brought life, love and energy to everyone and everything she touched. She particularly enjoyed swimming on the Junior Varsity High School and YMCA swim teams. Ashley understood
the importance of making a difference in the lives of others and was a champion for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Make a Wish Foundation, the Ronald McDonald House and other non-profit charities.
She also knew the importance that education plays in being successful and was looking forward to attending college. Her educational aspirations revolved around pursuing a career in the medical field. Ashley’s family chose to honor her spirit by financially assisting others in making miracles in this field come true.
Thank you to the family for using Ashely’s memory to make a direct impact on students in the area to carry on Ashley’s incredible memory.
