Project
Update: Women
to Women: Creating Community
Connections
Book Project
In
order to create a comprehensive book with submissions from
a broad spectrum of community members, the volunteer planning
committee for the Women to
Women: Creating Community Connections book project
has extended the timeline for the project. The book of
poems and essays to honor the contributions made by women
to our community will now be unveiled at the
2009 Women's Fund Annual Event Luncheon. If you would like
more information about the project, please contact the Women's Fund
at info@womensfundfvr.org.
Financial support for the project is generously being provided by
Kimberly-Clark Corporation.
WillPower Planned
Giving Program
Did you
know investing in women and girls is one of the best ways to invest
in the future of our community? Women and their children are
disproportionately affected by poverty and violence. Long-term
solutions to our community's most pressing problems will only
come when we meet the need for financial investment in programs that
help women become economically self-sufficient and address the root
causes of domestic violence. Won't you help us create positive
social change by including the Women's Fund in your estate gift
plan? Planned gifts of any size will make you eligible for
membership in the WillPower Social Change Society. Please
contact Shauna or Becky at info@womensfundfvr.org for more
information, or visit the WAYS TO GIVE page at www.womensfundfvr.org.
Volunteer
Opportunities
The Women's Fund needs your
passion, skills and talents. If you have a desire to help the
Women’s Fund encourage and inspire women and girls to flourish
personally, economically and professionally, we would love to hear
from you. Request a volunteer interest form by visiting the CONTACT US page at
www.womensfundfvr.org. |

Shelter from the Storm to
air August 7th
Shelter
from the Storm, a
half-hour documentary about women and children in poverty airs
statewide on Wisconsin Public Television on Thursday, August 7 at
7:00
p.m. The
show features four low-income women with children who faced the
challenge of escaping poverty to find affordable, adequate housing.
Everyday struggles with transportation and quality daycare hinder
their attempts to locate and hold better paying jobs. Shelter from the Storm
gives viewers an insightful look into the issues surrounding women
and children in poverty and is designed to raise awareness of the
negative social stigmas surrounding poverty and offer positive
solutions to some of the problems.
Shelter
from the Storm was
produced by NEWIST/CESA 7 in cooperation with Educational Television
Productions of N.E. Wisconsin and Wisconsin Public
Television.
